Compared to its predecessor, the overall design of the Baic BJ40 is more refined. The front end introduces the latest "five-square-hole" design, integrating the grille light with the front headlight, establishing a new identifying mark. Both the front and rear bumpers of the new vehicle adopt an independent split design, presenting a very sleek look. This design's primary advantage is that it facilitates customization for users. On the side, the rear windows are accentuated by a "D-shaped" decoration, enhancing its distinctiveness. At the rear, it features "F-shaped" taillights, an externally mounted spare tire, and a five-hole high-mounted brake light.

In terms of power, the Baic BJ40 offers choices of gasoline, diesel, and range-extender electric drives. The showcased City Hunter version is equipped with a proven 2.0T + 8AT powertrain, with a maximum power of 180kW, peak torque of 395N·m, and an acceleration from 0-100km/h in less than 10 seconds. The new BJ40 also adopts the in-house ATS system, enabling 11 driving modes and 20 driving combinations. Its off-road crawling technology offers 12 stable crawling levels, ranging from 1km/h to 12km/h."

ML-Vehicle Review:

Compared to the current model, the newly launched Baic BJ40 boasts a more technologically advanced interior and exterior. However, for consumers who have a sentimental attachment to Beijing Auto's off-road models, this might come with a touch of regret. Even though its appearance and interior meet current mainstream standards, the core power component, which is essential for an off-road vehicle, seems slightly underwhelming when compared to the rugged off-road SUVs showcased at this auto show.
