Xpeng Motors And Volkswagen Group Sign Cooperation Agreement On Electronic And Electrical Architecture Technology

"From 2026 onwards, all pure electric vehicle models launched by the Volkswagen brand in the Chinese market will feature this powerful and efficient electronic and electrical architecture," emphasized Ralf Brandstaetter, Chairman and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, who is responsible for the group's business in China.

On the morning of July 22, Xpeng Motors and Volkswagen Group jointly announced that after signing a strategic cooperation plan for electronic and electrical architecture technology, they have further signed a joint development agreement for electronic and electrical architecture technology. Both parties will fully commit to developing industry-leading electronic and electrical architectures for the CMP and MEB platforms produced by Volkswagen in China.

According to the cooperation agreement, joint development project teams have been established in Guangzhou and Hefei, where engineers from both sides will work closely to accelerate the development process of the electronic and electrical architecture. Based on this, the first model equipped with the jointly developed electronic and electrical architecture is expected to be mass-produced within 24 months.

Recently, industry insiders revealed that hundreds of Volkswagen engineers have already stationed at Xpeng Motors' headquarters in Guangzhou, emphasizing that "the scope of coverage is very broad, and the degree of cooperation is unprecedented." Although this news was quickly withdrawn, Xpeng Motors responded officially that more details about the further cooperation would be disclosed next week.

Clearly, this indicates that the cooperation between the two parties has already been implemented ahead of schedule, indirectly revealing Volkswagen's urgent need for electrification transformation.

In addition, according to the joint development agreement, the two parties will also actively explore further cooperation opportunities to expand the application scope of the jointly developed electronic and electrical architecture.

"The cooperation on electronic and electrical architecture is the third major milestone achieved within a year in our long-term strategic partnership with Volkswagen Group. With the high level of trust between Volkswagen and Xpeng Motors and the close cooperation between engineers from both sides, our cooperation projects have progressed rapidly and have already achieved significant synergies. I look forward to expanding our scope of technical cooperation and deepening our win-win strategic partnership," said He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of Xpeng Motors.
