"This is not an ordinary SUV," declared Xiaomi Group Chairman Lei Jun at the June 27 launch event. "The YU7 is a heartfelt and hardcore love letter from our engineering team to those who refuse to settle for mediocrity and who dream of the horizon."
During the multi-hour launch event, Lei Jun and other Xiaomi executives showcased groundbreaking innovations in smart ecosystems and mobility - from AI glasses supporting first-person live streaming to record-breaking high-performance EVs on the Nürburgring. But the highlight of the show was undoubtedly Xiaomi's first SUV: the YU7.
Positioned as a luxury high-performance SUV, the Xiaomi YU7 comes in three versions - YU7 Standard, YU7 Pro, and YU7 Max - with prices ranging from ¥253,500 to ¥329,900.
All variants are equipped with Xiaomi's Super Motor V6s Plus, which features a maximum speed of 22,000 rpm, peak torque of 528 N·m, and peak power of 288 kW. The Max version delivers up to 690 PS, a top speed of 253 km/h, and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds (or 2.98 seconds excluding the launch phase). According to Lei Jun, the YU7 is the fastest SUV under ¥800,000 in terms of 0–100 km/h acceleration.
The YU7 Standard boasts a CLTC range of 835 km - currently the longest among mid-to-large pure electric SUVs. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive version has a range of 770 km, also leading its class. All YU7 models are built on an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, with a maximum charging rate of 5.2C. They can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 12 minutes and gain up to 620 km of range in just 15 minutes.
In terms of chassis, the YU7 features a front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension system. It is equipped with closed dual-chamber air springs and continuously variable damping shock absorbers. The entire lineup comes standard with Xiaomi's Smart Chassis system, which includes road preview and active suspension adjustment.
On the intelligent side, the YU7 cabin is powered by a leading-edge 4nm chipset. For assisted driving, it utilizes the new generation 4nm NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor™ platform with 700 TOPS of computing power - outperforming two Orin X chips. It also features the Xiaomi Sky Horizon Display system: a panoramic Mini-LED triple-screen setup that uses curved projection to display information on the windshield's black zone, delivering a more immersive and transparent viewing experience at 2–3 times the cost of conventional HUDs.
"The mom who drops her kids off at school and buys herself flowers in the morning; the dad who takes his family camping and leaves a fishing rod in the trunk for himself; the dreamers who find wonder in everyday life - the YU7 was made for them," Lei Jun said, defining the car's target audience.
In the fiercely competitive SUV market, Xiaomi is making a bold statement with the YU7 - a "hardcore love letter" marking its confident and determined entry into the automotive battlefield.
And how has the market responded? According to official figures, the YU7 received over 289,000 preorders within just one hour of launch.
