At the same time, XPeng revealed that a right-hand-drive version of the XPeng X9 will begin localized production in Jakarta in July 2025. This marks the official launch of XPeng's first overseas manufacturing project, with Indonesia as the starting point.

According to data from the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries, sales of new energy vehicles in Indonesia surged by over 43,000 units in 2024 - a 150% year-on-year increase. The country plans to produce 400,000 EVs in 2025, and aims to scale up to 1 million units by 2035. The Indonesian government has also introduced a series of supportive policies to boost the development of the NEV sector, creating ample market opportunities for Chinese automakers like XPeng.

As XPeng's first overseas production hub, the Indonesian facility targets Southeast Asia's largest automotive market. Indonesia, the region's most populous country, represents a core market with annual EV sales potential reaching into the millions.

Localized production is a key component of XPeng's international expansion strategy. By establishing overseas manufacturing capabilities, XPeng becomes the first among China's new-generation EV makers to implement local production abroad. This allows the company to respond quickly to regional demand, deliver more efficient and customized solutions, and promote the adoption of intelligent electric vehicle technologies in Indonesia and other key markets. The move is expected to accelerate technological accessibility and foster a mutually beneficial ecosystem.

The XPeng X9 is the brand's first high-end all-electric flagship MPV. XPeng Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng previously stated that the company is confident the X9 will become the best-selling premium electric MPV in the Asia-Pacific region by 2025.

Looking ahead, XPeng plans to enter over 60 countries and regions by 2025, with a goal for overseas sales to account for 50% of its total volume within the next decade. The company's global expansion is rapidly gaining momentum. From January to May this year, XPeng ranked first among Chinese EV startups in overseas sales across nine countries, including Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Portugal, Belgium, Singapore, and Israel.
