Strategic Cooperation On Charging Business Reached Between Li Auto And Sinopec

On October 12, Li Auto announced that it had signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Sinopec Sales Company, marking the official commencement of cooperation between the two parties in the field of new energy vehicle (NEV) charging.

According to the agreement, both sides will leverage their respective strengths in branding, network channels, and industrial capital to jointly promote resource sharing in the energy sector. This will be achieved through co-branded charging network layouts, platform interconnectivity, and collaborations on car maintenance card benefits, among other initiatives.

In the area of co-branded charging stations, the two companies have already achieved preliminary results. In July of this year, the first co-branded station between Sinopec and Li Auto began operations at the Hechuan Service Area in Chongqing, equipped with a 5C liquid-cooled supercharging terminal with a maximum power output of 520 kW, and three fast-charging terminals with a maximum power of 250 kW each.

Additionally, the two companies have completed the integration of their platforms. Since September 29, users have been able to locate and activate Sinopec's nationwide charging terminals through the Li Auto app. During the recent seven-day National Day holiday, Sinopec charging piles in 29 provinces across the country were successfully activated via the Li Auto app.

Building on their extensive customer resources, the two parties will continue to explore joint marketing efforts through car maintenance cards, exclusive benefits, and joint membership models. Their goal is to create a high-value user service platform that provides premium rights and services to users of both companies.

As of October 12, Sinopec has built over 30,000 gas stations and 8,600 charging stations nationwide, many of which offer both fuel and electric charging services. As for Li Auto, by October 1, 2024, the company had launched over 900 supercharging stations, including more than 550 highway supercharging stations, covering key cities along the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Greater Bay Area, and Chengdu-Chongqing economic belts. Additionally, Li Auto's urban supercharging stations, now numbering over 340, span 64 cities across the country.

Li Auto stated that with the completion of platform integration with Sinopec's charging platform, the company has now achieved interconnectivity with several leading domestic charging service providers. As of now, Li Auto's app "Charging Map" has integrated over 80,000 charging stations, offering access to approximately 970,000 charging terminals.
