Recently, Shell and Li Auto have reached a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing. This partnership spans several key areas:
1. Technology and Product Supply
The two parties will jointly engage in R&D efforts, including the development of dedicated lubricants for range extender systems, technologies for EV powertrain maintenance, and collaboration on charging network integration. As part of the deal, Shell becomes Li Auto's designated strategic partner for lubricants. Shell will also support the development of long-life engine oils for range extenders, intelligent oil change systems, and work together with Li Auto to establish an innovation center to explore AI-driven lubrication technologies. Moreover, the partnership will see the creation of the world's first certification system for range extender engine oils.
2. After-sales and User Experience
Shell and Li Auto will jointly launch exclusive after-sales products and gifts, organize themed campaigns to enhance user experience, and empower terminal technicians with Shell's technical expertise to unlock value in the aftermarket.
3. Global Synergy and Supply Chain Resilience
With Shell operating more than 44,000 retail and mobility service stations worldwide, it will provide strong support for Li Auto's international energy replenishment network. The partnership will also explore cross-sector collaboration, deepen efforts in carbon reduction, and strengthen corporate social responsibility initiatives. Additionally, Shell will prioritize lubricant supply to Li Auto, ensuring a responsive and resilient supply system capable of handling market fluctuations effectively.
