Launch Of The GAC Honda Accord E:PHEV

The all-new GAC Honda Accord, built on the Honda Architecture, showcases evident changes in its exterior design, presenting a more dynamic and elegant visual appeal. Under this architecture, the new Accord adopts the ACE body structure, which strengthens the skeletal structure of the vehicle. With the use of a significant amount of hot-formed steel and ultra-high-strength materials, the body's resistance to torsion and bending is improved, providing a solid foundation for achieving high-level performance, comfort, and stability. In terms of passive safety performance, the ACE body structure is complemented by the standard inclusion of 10 safety airbags and the PUH pedestrian collision protection system.

Furthermore, the new architecture employs a new design concept for the vehicle's body structure, allowing the e:PHEV variant to maintain the same level of low center of gravity as the gasoline version, even with the inclusion of a large-capacity battery. The low center of gravity design ensures a higher-quality driving experience, as well as a more stable, agile, and high-performance dynamic capability.

The all-new Accord debuts the upgraded Honda CONNECT 4.0 intelligent navigation and connectivity system, offering functions such as a new navigation system, personal assistance, life and safety services, smartphone/wearable terminal integration, and entertainment services. The navigation system incorporates Baidu Maps, a highly popular choice among Chinese users, and features real-life navigation based on the front camera of the onboard recorder, providing a more intuitive navigation experience.

The DMC driver status perception system uses a driver status camera inside the vehicle to identify driver expressions, including fatigue monitoring, inattentive analysis, facial expressions, and dangerous behaviors. Additionally, the vehicle can be remotely operated and its status confirmed using a smartphone. It can also be linked to a smartwatch for voice control, allowing operations such as locking/unlocking and synchronization of important phone notifications.

In addition to the Honda CONNECT 4.0 intelligent navigation and connectivity system, the all-new Accord is equipped with a 10.2-inch instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central control screen, an 11.5-inch HUD (head-up display), a streaming rearview mirror, and cabin environment control knobs specially designed for Chinese users. Physical buttons are minimized to achieve a more technological and convenient human-machine interaction.

The new 2.0L direct-injection Atkinson cycle engine in the Accord E:PHEV incorporates cylinder direct injection technology and multi-stage fuel injection technology. It also integrates a high compression ratio of 13.9, a high-rigidity crankshaft, extensive cooling EGR (exhaust gas recirculation), and reduced friction to enhance efficiency, ultimately achieving a maximum thermal efficiency of 41%. The E-CVT dual-motor transmission works closely with the PCU (power control unit) to deliver a maximum torque of 335Nm.

The Accord E:PHEV utilizes a battery with a capacity of 17.7kWh, and the battery pack has been reduced in weight by 51% and in size by 57%. Compared to previous PHEV models, both the weight and volume have been reduced by more than half, resulting in an NEDC electric range of up to 106km. Moreover, the power output of the all-new Accord has increased by 15%, and the size of the power output module has been reduced by 40%. While achieving high output power, the system has been made lighter, smaller, and the power output calibration is more linear and smooth.
