He Xiaopeng: Xpeng Motors Is Confident in Becoming One Of China’s First Mass-Produced L3 Robot Companies

Recently, Xpeng Motors held the launch ceremony for its X9 model's overseas debut. On February 22, the first batch of 300 Xpeng X9 vehicles was exported from the Nansha Port in Guangzhou to global markets. This marks the 255th overseas shipment for Xpeng Motors, which has now exported to more than 30 countries and regions worldwide.

According to the company's plan, Xpeng Motors will expand to over 60 countries and regions this year and establish more than 300 overseas after-sales service outlets. Additionally, its ultra-fast charging network will be deployed first in Southeast Asia as part of the global energy system expansion.

At the launch ceremony, Xpeng Motors Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng also discussed the development blueprint for humanoid robots. He stated that while the robot industry is currently generally at the L2 level, the goal for everyone is to progress to L3. Xpeng's robot is part of this journey, and He expressed confidence that "Xpeng will be one of the first companies in China to mass-produce L3 robots."

He further explained that Xpeng Motors' world model, reinforcement learning, and distillation capabilities will be fully deployed in their vehicles, and this technical architecture will be reused in humanoid robots. This shared technology strategy allows the humanoid robots to leverage the same intelligent driving foundation, absorb more knowledge, and accumulate richer data, which will accelerate technological evolution and performance improvements.

Xpeng Motors' new AI humanoid robot, Iron, was unveiled in the fourth quarter of last year. The robot features a 1:1 human replica, standing 178 cm tall and weighing 70 kg, with 62 points of active freedom of movement across its body and 15 degrees of movement freedom in its hands.

The "brain" of the robot uses Xpeng's self-developed Turing AI chip, delivering 3000T of computing power. Its thinking and actions are designed to be "humanoid." The robot shares the same origin as Xpeng's intelligent driving system, incorporating an AI-powered car's Hawk Eye vision system, as well as end-to-end large models and reinforcement learning algorithms. Additionally, the robot is equipped with Xpeng's Tianji AIOS, enabling it to engage in smooth, natural conversations.

The robot is already undergoing production training at Xpeng's Guangzhou factory with the P7+ model. In the future, it will focus on applications in factories and retail stores.
