GAC Aion Achieves Breakthrough in Solid-State Battery Technology

Recently, GAC Aion officially announced that it will achieve mass production of solid-state batteries in 2026, with the Haobo model being the first to adopt this technology. A few days later, GAC Aion Laboratory announced the successful verification of solid-state battery interface modification technology, disclosing a new technological breakthrough. This technology is expected to reduce the degradation of solid-state battery life by 50%, maintaining over 90% of battery capacity after 150 cycles.

For a long time, solid-state batteries have been considered the most promising "next-generation power battery," with advantages such as ultra-high energy density of over 400Wh/Kg, high-temperature resistance, puncture resistance, and a wide operating temperature range. Solid-state batteries have the potential to become the ultimate solution for power batteries. However, the solid-solid interface in solid-state batteries has high contact impedance and poor stability, leading to significant capacity decay and shortened lifespan. This has hindered the transition of solid-state batteries from the laboratory to mass production and application.

GAC Aion Laboratory, through the special design of solid-state electrolyte components, induced the formation of an interface buffer layer on the negative electrode surface, effectively reducing interface impedance while enhancing interface stability. In the test, the capacity of conventional solid-state batteries significantly declined to 80% after 150 cycles, while the solid-state batteries using interface modification technology showed significantly improved cycle stability, with a capacity retention rate above 90% after 150 cycles, reducing the battery life degradation rate by 50%. Additionally, new solid-state electrolyte and solid-solid interface modification technologies are also under accelerated development, aiming to achieve continuous optimization of the comprehensive performance of solid-state batteries.

This breakthrough in solid-state battery technology will further accelerate the mass production and application of solid-state batteries in Haobo-related products, allowing users to experience the benefits of advanced battery technology in travel sooner. In addition to the automotive industry, in fields with high demands for battery lightweighting, such as the drone industry, robotics, mechanical exoskeletons, medical technology, etc., the significant improvement in performance and weight of solid-state batteries will bring breakthroughs in different industries, opening up more possibilities.
