At the 2023 Chengdu Auto Show, IM unveiled its brand new mid-to-large SUV: the IM LS6. The showcase vehicle is expected to arrive in stores on September 22nd, with official deliveries set to begin in October. Alongside the new car delivery, Zhiji (presumably the parent company or affiliate) plans to launch the GPT large model. In September 2023, IM AD will start public testing without high-precision maps, followed by city NOA public testing in October. By 2024, IM AD will enter a network-occupied phase and commence commuting mode, with full-scenario commuting set for 2025.
The vehicle's main highlight is its advanced 800V high-voltage platform with silicon carbide technology. The new car's maximum torque reaches a powerful 800 Nm, boasting an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.48 seconds, with a top speed of 252 km/h.
Exterior: The IM LS6 shares the same familial design language as the IM LS7, yet its front-end style is noticeably more aggressive. Its front fascia has larger boomerang-style openings. As per previous declarations, two distinct decorative color schemes will be available.
From the side, its design remains fluid and natural, with a reduced rear spoiler making the roofline appear smoother. In terms of dimensions, the car measures 4904mm in length, 1988mm in width, and 1669mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2950mm.
The rear draws heavily from the family design, incorporating a through-type tail light and a subtle ducktail, enhancing the vehicle's layered look.
Interior: The IM LS6 interior sees new changes. The previously seen retractable large screen and semi-spoked steering wheel from the LS7 are gone, replaced by a conventional dual-spoke steering wheel and a broad integrated screen design.
Performance: As a new energy vehicle, it adopts a novel 800V high-voltage platform, enabling a peak charging power of 396kW and a maximum operating voltage exceeding 800V, up to 875V. Regarding the much-anticipated charging speeds: it can gain up to 200 km of range in just 5 minutes; charge to half capacity (approx. 350 km range) in 10 minutes; and add up to 500 km of range in just 15 minutes. The dual-motor version offers a maximum power of 579 kW and peak torque of 800 Nm, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 252 km/h. The single-motor variant delivers a maximum power of 250 kW and a top speed of 200 km/h. It is equipped with a ternary lithium battery from CATL (usually referred to as "Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited" in English sources).
