BYD Formula Leopard 5
Products Description
Appearance-wise, the BYD Formula Leopard 5 adopts a rather squared-off design style. The electric matrix headlights, combined with the slender grille, create a pleasing sense of depth. Simultaneously, the Formula Leopard brand logo is centrally located in the grille, blending harmoniously with the horizontal bars, giving an overall harmonious look. Moreover, the car's lower fascia has a wild skid plate design, showcasing a rugged charisma.
From the side, the BYD Formula Leopard 5 has traditional-style door handles that emphasize its tough demeanor. The new car also supports Bluetooth and NFC keys. Roof racks come standard on all models, while fixed step boards are standard equipment. Customers can opt for electric step boards. In terms of dimensions, the BYD Formula Leopard 5 measures 4890/1970/1920 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2800 mm. For off-roading capabilities, the Leopard 5 has an approach angle of 35°, a departure angle of 32°, a ramp-over angle of 20°, and a minimum ground clearance of 220mm. Versions equipped with the Yunlian-P standard edition intelligent hydraulic body control system can achieve a minimum ground clearance of 310mm.
As an off-road vehicle, the rear design is relatively standard: a boxy body combined with pronounced wheel arches and an externally mounted spare tire, offering a rugged visual impact. Notably, the tailgate is designed to open from right to left and features an electric suction function, making it easy to close without applying much force. This avoids dust from getting everywhere if the tailgate is slammed shut when dirty. The trunk area is equipped with numerous power outlets, convenient for users during outdoor camping or when using external devices. The BYD Formula Leopard 5 comes standard with four physical tow hook anchor points, with a maximum traction of 32,000N. It can also be equipped with a 2.5T towing certification to cater to the needs of towing RVs, yachts, etc.

Inside, the BYD Formula Leopard 5 continues the rugged theme. The dashboard boasts three screens: a 15.6-inch 2.5K high-definition central multimedia screen, a 12.3-inch display for the driver, and another 12.3-inch entertainment screen for the passenger. The interior design of the BYD Formula Leopard 5 is fundamentally based on the "lock buckle" concept, symbolizing connection, uniqueness, power, and safety, echoing its exterior. The center console has a retractable gear lever that rises when the vehicle starts and descends gently when turned off, providing a sense of ceremony.
Below the gear lever is a row of crystal clear buttons, presented in a modern industrial design. The vehicle features physical buttons for the front and rear differential locks, which are sufficiently large for easy operation, especially for drivers wearing gloves in winter. Sound-wise, the BYD Formula Leopard 5 collaborates with the high-end French audio brand Devialet, offering up to 18 Devialet speakers, including a driver's headrest speaker.
For off-road configurations, the BYD Formula Leopard 5 utilizes a non-unibody structure. Its four-wheel-drive system comprises three differential locks: the front one integrated into the gearbox, the rear one within the rear motor, and an electronically simulated central differential lock. This refers to the electronic control system's intelligent torque distribution and allocation for the front and rear axles. Additionally, the vehicle boasts 16 selectable driving modes, including a turning radius of just 3.4 meters for the Leopard's "pivot turn." Higher-end models come with the Yunlian-P intelligent hydraulic body control system, adapting the vehicle's height, damping, and four-wheel connection to achieve maximum off-road capabilities, camping leveling, convenient item retrieval, and multi-level urban driving damping adjustment. The chassis is equipped with protection plates for the drivetrain and batteries to prevent damage from rugged terrains.
Power-wise, the BYD Formula Leopard 5 is the first model from BYD's brand-new DMO super hybrid off-road platform. It features a four-wheel-drive system composed of a 1.5T engine and dual electric motors. The electric motors' peak power outputs are 200kW for the front and 285kW for the rear, with rated power outputs of 80kW for both. Additionally, the engine's maximum net power is 135kW. The BYD Formula Leopard 5 is a "longitudinally mounted" engine model, thereby providing ample space for the Yunlian system. The vehicle supports 100kW DC fast charging, taking only 16 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. It offers a 6.6kW AC slow charge and a 6kW high-power external discharge. The BYD Formula Leopard 5's stationary power generation capability reaches a maximum power of 20kW, with a combined range of 1,200 kilometers.
