Sway Bar (also known as Stabilizer Bar or Anti-roll Bar)

1:What is it?
It is a U-shaped metal connecting rod that links the suspension on both sides of a vehicle.

2:Function
During vehicle cornering, the suspension on the inner side of the turn is stretched, while the outer side is compressed. The sway bar, also known as a stabilizer bar or anti-roll bar, counteracts this twisting motion to reduce the extent of suspension compression and elongation, thus controlling the vehicle's body roll.

3:Features
The diameter and length of the sway bar determine its anti-roll performance. When modifying a vehicle, it is important to consider that the sway bar's settings not only affect the degree of body roll but also have a significant impact on the vehicle's steering characteristics. A stronger sway bar increases the weight transferred to the outer wheels during cornering, effectively enhancing the rate of weight transfer. As a result, the outer wheels on this axle may reach their traction limit first. If the limit is exceeded, understeer or oversteer can occur. Most factory vehicle models are biased towards understeer in sway bar settings, as this characteristic requires lower driving skill and aligns with the instinct to decelerate when encountering danger.
