Pneumatic Suspension

1:What is it?
Pneumatic suspension refers to shock absorbers with rubber airbags as damping elements, which can adjust the length of the shock absorbers by regulating the air pressure.

1

2:Components
It consists of an elastic rubber airbag shock absorber, an air pressure control system, an air storage tank, an electronic control system, and connecting pipelines.

3:Features
Pneumatic suspension is a precision component that differs from factory suspension systems. Each pneumatic shock absorber has an elastic rubber airbag. The working principle of the elastic rubber airbag is to fill the sealed pressure cylinder with inert gas or an oil-gas mixture, creating pressure several times or tens of times higher than atmospheric pressure. The pressure difference, generated due to the smaller cross-sectional area of the piston rod compared to the piston, drives the movement of the piston rod. Pneumatic suspension is not suitable for driving on various complex road conditions. Prolonged driving on bumpy roads can lead to chronic air leakage, unstable air pressure, and increased temperature inside the air tank, eventually resulting in a loss of precision in pneumatic adjustment. Therefore, regular maintenance of pneumatic suspension is crucial. The rubber airbags should be wiped with a cleaning agent periodically to prevent corrosive oil residues on the rubber surface. Additionally, the elastic rubber airbags should not be inflated for an extended period as it can cause a decrease in elasticity. It is necessary to periodically release the air pressure in the airbags completely to allow them to regain proper elasticity.

4:Function
Pneumatic suspension improves ride comfort and allows for adjustment of the vehicle's minimum ground clearance to enhance its off-road capabilities. It also offers visually appealing effects.
