Diesel engines have many similarities to gasoline engines in terms of their operating cycles, but they differ in their ignition process. In a diesel engine, the air-fuel mixture in the cylinders is ignited through compression, rather than by a spark.

Generates higher levels of noise.
Higher manufacturing costs and less maintenance-friendly than gasoline engines.

Emits higher levels of carbon soot and particulate matter (PM).
5:Working principle:
The diesel engine generates power by combusting diesel fuel inside the cylinders, which drives the piston connected to the crankshaft, resulting in reciprocating rotational motion and power output.
A four-stroke diesel engine consists of four strokes or cycles: intake, compression, power, and exhaust.
Intake stroke:
The piston, driven by the crankshaft, moves from top dead center (TDC) to bottom dead center (BDC), simultaneously opening the intake valve and closing the exhaust valve. As the piston moves from TDC to BDC, the volume above the piston increases, reducing the pressure inside the cylinder and creating a partial vacuum. With the intake valve open, fresh air is drawn into the cylinder from the intake manifold. When the piston reaches BDC, the cylinder is filled with fresh air.
