Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd. (BAIC MOTOR for short, both in Chinese and English) was established to achieve the strategic goal set by the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government to "mobilize the whole city to develop the automotive industry and build a domestically leading automotive R&D and manufacturing city," in order to comprehensively meet the working requirements of the Seventh Plenary Session of the Tenth Beijing Municipal Party Committee to "promote transformation, adjust structure, and comprehensively enhance the core competitiveness of the capital's economy." It aims to truly develop high-end manufacturing, strengthen the secondary industry, and transform the capital into a global city. The company was initiated and formed by six large enterprises, including Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd.
The establishment of Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd. will accelerate the optimization and upgrading of Beijing's automotive industry and comprehensively promote the development strategy of Beijing's independent automotive brands. On December 5, 2018, the company was honored as the Most Valuable Listed Company at the 8th Hong Kong International Financial Forum and China Securities Golden Bauhinia Awards. It was also ranked 31st on the "Belt and Road" Top 100 Chinese Enterprises list.
