Xiaomi Car's Latest Patent: Automatic Accident Severity Detection And Notification Of Emergency Contacts

The National Intellectual Property Office has recently unveiled Xiaomi's latest patent, designed to enhance the safety of occupants inside vehicles.

The patent, filed by Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., is titled "Method, Device, Vehicle, Storage Medium, and Chip for Emergency Contact in Vehicle Accidents." It aims to use an intelligent system to promptly notify emergency contacts and provide relevant accident information in the event of a vehicle accident, ensuring that occupants can receive timely assistance.

According to the patent abstract, when a collision is detected in the vehicle, the system collects post-collision status information and determines the accident severity based on this information.

The first level of accidents includes trigger mechanisms like battery malfunction, circuit failure, and tire issues, with vehicle damage limited to the rear end, bumper, etc.

The second level involves more serious accidents with triggering mechanisms such as brake failure, engine issues, and safety airbag deployment, which directly endanger occupant safety. Vehicle damage in this case may include rollovers, fuel tank leaks, and wheel detachment.

In case of danger, the system not only sends messages to emergency contacts but also places an emergency call to an emergency service center to relay accident information, ensuring that occupants can receive timely assistance.

Xiaomi's first car model is expected to be unveiled at the end of this year and officially launched next year. Recently, Xiaomi also introduced its self-developed operating system, "Pengpai OS," with the car becoming an integral part of its ecosystem.
