Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) officially launched the GAC Trumpchi E9 on May 21st. The new vehicle is available in three different models, with prices ranging from 329,800 to 389,800 yuan. As the flagship model of the Trumpchi E series, the E9 features a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 2.0T engine and an electric motor, offering a pure electric range of 136km and a comprehensive range of 1032km.
Notably, the GAC Trumpchi E9 will also serve as the designated vehicle for China's Arctic Scientific Expedition Team, accompanying the team on their journey to the Arctic and providing transportation services.
In terms of appearance, the Trumpchi E9 offers two different front grille designs. The PRO and MAX models feature the "Kunpeng Spread Wings" grille, while the flagship version, known as the "Shaking Sky Wings," is equipped with a grille of the same name. The Kunpeng Spread Wings grille consists of nine horizontal lines and five vertical light strips on one side, symbolizing respect and honor. The flagship series, on the other hand, comes with the "Roaring Lion" front grille, officially known as the "Shaking Sky Wings 2.0," exuding a more powerful presence.
From the side, the new car maintains the overall contour of the M8 flagship series but with upgraded details, such as side skirts and chrome trim along the window edges. The dimensions of the vehicle are 5193 (5212) / 1893 / 1823mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3070mm. All models in the lineup come equipped with 18-inch wheels and tires measuring 225/60 R18.
The rear design of the GAC Trumpchi E9 features a stable and symmetrical appearance, with horizontally connected taillights that create an impressive visual effect when illuminated. Additionally, the car is equipped with both fast-charging and slow-charging interfaces on the left side of the rear. The charging time for fast-charging and slow-charging is 0.5 and 3.5 hours, respectively. Furthermore, the vehicle supports V2L 3.3kW power discharge and V2V 5.5kW vehicle-to-vehicle power discharge, offering a range of versatile usage scenarios.
Entering the interior, the stable and symmetrical design enhances a sense of elegance. The combination of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a large 14.6-inch floating central control screen, and a 12.3-inch entertainment screen for the passenger side meets the demands of contemporary consumers. In terms of features, the new car is equipped with the ADiGO intelligent connectivity system, a 16-speaker Yamaha audio system, four-zone intelligent voice interaction, L2-level driving assistance, and advanced intelligent parking, among other functions.
In the rear seats, the GAC Trumpchi E9 features semi-aniline premium leather upholstery. The second-row seats are equipped with a 5-inch touch screen for electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, and memory functions. Additionally, the second-row seats come with a one-key SPA mode and are complemented by a 15.6-inch entertainment screen, emphasizing a sense of luxury.
Powering the GAC Trumpchi E9 is a self-developed 2.0TM plug-in hybrid engine by GAC, with a maximum power output of 140kW and a maximum torque of 330N·m. The electric motor provides a maximum power output of 134kW and a maximum torque of 300N·m. The combined system power reaches 274kW, with a maximum torque of 630N·m
