Tesla Engineer Responds To Cybertruck Body Rust

Recently, some Tesla Cybertruck owners have reported online that their vehicles have developed orange/black rust spots on the stainless steel body after being exposed to rain. In response, the official Cybertruck account retweeted a statement from Tesla's Engineering Director & Cybertruck Chief Engineer, Wes Morrill: "It can be wiped off."

Wes Morrill claimed that stainless steel is active, and free iron can rust. These rust spots are just surface contaminants that can be easily removed, and he even recommended several cleaning agents.

Earlier this month, users on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum first mentioned this issue. One of the posters wrote, "Just picked up my Cybertruck today, and the delivery advisor specifically mentioned that Cybertruck will develop orange rust marks in the rain and requires polishing."

Los Angeles experienced several days of rainfall in February, after which more users shared on the forum about their Cybertruck developing rust spots. However, everyone used cleaning agents to remove the spots. Influencer Demaree told reporters, "I'm glad to have my own Cybertruck, and I'll be ready with a bottle of trusted cleaning agent."
