On April 11, Tesla's official China website showed that the Model S and Model X are no longer available for new orders. The individual "Order Now" option has been removed from their respective product pages, leaving only a "View Inventory" button. Clicking this button reveals a list of available vehicles. In contrast, the Model Y and Model 3 still retain the "Order Now" option on their pages.

As of the time of reporting, there are no Model X Plaid units available in any region. Previously, the Model X Plaid was priced at 902,900 RMB.
Some Model S units are currently in stock in Shanghai and are available for immediate delivery, with prices ranging from 759,900 to 923,900 RMB. However, no inventory is available in other provinces.
On April 11, China's Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council announced a new round of tariff adjustments on goods originating from the United States. Starting April 12, the additional tariff rate on these imports will increase from 84% to 125%. This steep tariff hike is expected to significantly raise the prices of the Tesla Model S and Model X.
The Model S and Model X were the first two models Tesla introduced to the market. According to Elon Musk's "Master Plan," they were originally positioned as premium vehicles designed to fund the development of more affordable, mass-market electric cars. Thanks to the Model S's exceptional performance and the Model X's spacious design, both models have continued to attract a niche customer base and have remained in production.
According to the latest figures, Tesla delivered 336,681 vehicles globally in Q1 2025, marking a 12.96% year-over-year decline. Production for the quarter totaled 362,615 vehicles, down 16.33% from the same period last year. Among them, only 17,000 units of the Model S, Model X, the new Cybertruck, and the Semi truck were produced, with deliveries totaling just 12,800 units.
