Safety Hazard: Audi Recalls Certain A4L/Q7/Q8 Models

Recently, FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the "Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls" and its implementing measures, deciding to recall certain Audi A4L, Q7, and Q8 models.

Recall Batches:

1:Effective immediately, recalling a total of 313 imported Audi Q7 and Q8 vehicles produced between August 11, 2023, and September 26, 2023.

2:Effective March 1, 2024, recalling a total of 6,241 domestically produced Audi A4L vehicles produced between September 22, 2020, and June 26, 2023.

Reasons for Recall:

1:Some Audi Q7 and Q8 vehicles within the scope of this recall have improperly installed driver's side airbags, which may fail to deploy correctly in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury to occupants and posing a safety hazard.

2:Some Audi A4L vehicles within the scope of this recall have software deviations in the entertainment control unit, which may cause the 360° surround-view camera image not to be displayed on the multimedia screen, thereby affecting the driver's visibility during reverse driving and increasing the risk of collision, posing a safety hazard.

Solution:

1:FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. will commission authorized Audi dealers to conduct a free inspection of the driver's side airbags for Audi Q7 and Q8 vehicles within the recall scope. If the side airbags are not properly installed, they will be reinstalled and fixed to eliminate the safety hazard.

2:This recall activity is conducted under the initiation of a defect investigation by the State Administration for Market Regulation. Affected by the investigation, FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. will commission authorized Audi dealers to provide a free upgrade of the entertainment control unit software for Audi A4L vehicles within the recall scope to eliminate the safety hazard.
