On June 10th, GAC Toyota held the Highlander Brand Day event, where they unveiled the "most impressive" Highlander Intelligent Electric Hybrid Elite PLUS edition. It includes three different trim levels with prices ranging from 282,800 to 299,800 yuan. The new model is based on the current Highlander and comes with added features such as a 360-degree navigation system, luxurious leather seats, leather steering wheel, ambient lighting, and power tailgate. There is a limited-time discount of 20,000 yuan, and the power battery comes with a "lifetime quality assurance" benefit. Currently, the fully revamped 2021 Highlander lineup, featuring the new generation, is equipped with a 2.5L hybrid powertrain, with prices ranging from 268,800 to 348,800 yuan.
In terms of the powertrain system, all six trim levels of the new Highlander come with a 2.5L hybrid system (2.5HEV). The maximum power output of the 2.5L engine is 192 horsepower (141 kW), with a peak torque of 238 Nm, and it is paired with an E-CVT transmission. As for the electric motor, the two-wheel-drive models have a 134 kW motor, while the four-wheel-drive version has an additional 40 kW rear motor. Overall, the comprehensive power output of this HEV powertrain system is 249 horsepower (183 kW).
