On October 12, it was reported through the National Intellectual Property Administration that Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. has filed a new hybrid safety technology patent. This technology aims to prevent hybrid vehicles from stalling when the secondary motor fails, ensuring that the vehicle maintains high-speed functionality over prolonged driving periods without losing power.

The patent summary reveals that the technology utilizes current speed data to screen for preset motor fault conditions through a multi-layered approach. If a secondary motor fault is detected, the system controls the engine and primary motor to keep the hybrid vehicle in motion, preventing it from stalling and reducing safety risks. This technology is expected to be integrated into Geely's new-generation Thor Super Hybrid system, which offers a range exceeding 2,000 km on a full charge and full tank, with a fuel consumption rate of 2L/100 km when in battery-depleted mode. This system is scheduled for release within the year.
Recently, Geely Holding Group announced a total sales volume of 308,119 units in September, reflecting a 17.8% year-on-year growth, with 152,515 of these being new energy vehicles (NEVs), marking a 59.6% increase and reaching a 49.5% NEV penetration rate. From January to September, cumulative sales reached 2,319,664 units, with NEV sales totaling 976,256 units and international sales reaching 907,578 units.
