Lotus EMEYA Breaks Records On Its Debut At Zhejiang Circuit

On November 3, 2023, Lotus's all-electric hypercar, the EMEYA, made its debut at Zhejiang Circuit and immediately set a new record by achieving a lap time of 1 minute and 35.728 seconds, breaking the previous record for the fastest lap time by a mass-produced electric vehicle at Zhejiang Circuit.

Earlier in July, Lotus's Eletre R+ had achieved a remarkable lap time of 1 minute and 37.792 seconds at Zhejiang Circuit, significantly surpassing the previous records for SUVs and mass-produced electric cars, earning it the titles of the fastest SUV and the fastest mass-produced electric car at Zhejiang Circuit. It's worth noting that EMEYA R+ is now one of the top 15 cars on Zhejiang Circuit's lap time leaderboard and is the only four-door sedan on the list.

EMEYA is set to make its official debut in the domestic market shortly. It is the second all-electric product from Lotus after ELETRE and is positioned as a Hyper GT electric supercar. In terms of its exterior design, the Lotus EMEYA maintains the brand's distinctive styling, featuring dual L-shaped split headlamps at the front, combining upper LED daytime running lights with lower high and low beam units for a sharp and striking look. The front bumper is equipped with a variable hexagonal active aerodynamic device, a feature carried over from the ELETRE, and it also includes an active air dam at the lower bumper to further enhance aerodynamics.

On the side, the new car adopts a sleek coupe-style body shape, and the rear features a continuous taillight assembly. Notably, the rear spoiler's width extends to 296 millimeters and, when raised, can generate 215 kilograms of downforce. Lotus has offered various optional features, including a carbon fiber roof, carbon fiber radar cover plate, and carbon-ceramic brake discs to enhance the car's sporty character. Additionally, the car is equipped with electronic rearview mirrors. The car's dimensions are as follows: length, 5139mm; width, 2005mm; height, 1464mm (1467mm); and a wheelbase of 3069mm.

In terms of the interior, the Lotus EMEYA incorporates several eco-friendly materials, including newly regenerated fiber cabling. The interior also features PVD coatings, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics materials, providing a high-quality feel. The sound system in the car is developed by the British audio brand KEF and utilizes Uni-Q and Uni-Core technologies, supporting Dolby Atmos for 3D surround sound.

In the powertrain department, the Lotus EMEYA is equipped with dual electric motors, with a front motor delivering a maximum power of 225 kW and a rear motor with a maximum power of 450 kW. According to official information, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds and achieve a top speed of 256 km/h. The battery capacity is 102 kWh, and with a two-speed transmission, the CLTC range can reach 600 km. Furthermore, the car will be equipped with an air suspension system. It supports 800V fast charging, and a 5-minute charge at 350 kW can add 180 km of range (CLTC conditions), while charging from 10% to 80% can be done in 15 minutes.
