Julian Blissett Stated: Pure Electric Is Unstoppable, And General Motors Remains Committed To Long-term Development in China.

Julian Blissett stated, "General Motors' long-term confidence and investment strategy in China remain unchanged. We are optimistic about the continuous growth of the Chinese economy, the evolving consumer trends, and the vibrant technological innovation. We will continue to increase our investments and strengthen our local presence."

According to Julian Blissett, while plug-in hybrid models have practical significance in the short to medium term and are suitable options for price-sensitive consumers in densely populated urban commuting scenarios, with policy support driving sales, General Motors believes that pure electric is the future direction of development.

"Confidence, determination, and perseverance!" Although not fluent in Chinese, Julian Blissett, Global Executive Vice President and President of General Motors China, firmly emphasized these three words to underscore General Motors' strong commitment to the Chinese market.

Facing the increasingly competitive Chinese automotive market, Blissett also mentioned three other Chinese phrases: "judgment, innovation, and resilience," clearly articulating General Motors' basic strategies in the Chinese market. Yesterday morning (June 29), Blissett conducted an interview with China Economic Net and other media in Shanghai, responding to questions about General Motors' strategic layout, product planning, and imported vehicle business in China.

"General Motors' long-term confidence and investment strategy in China remain unchanged. We are optimistic about the continuous growth of the Chinese economy, the evolving consumer trends, and the vibrant technological innovation. We will continue to increase our investments and strengthen our local presence," Blissett candidly stated. "Whether it's the rejuvenation and upgrade of our Advanced Design Center, steady progress in autonomous driving engineering research and development, or the rapid establishment of our new high-end import business, these are strong evidence of our deepened local development and adherence to long-termism, as well as key elements for future growth."

However, "the competitive landscape of the Chinese market today is vastly different from ten years ago. The competition in the Chinese automotive market is increasingly fierce, especially in the areas of pure electric and intelligent driving. Every company, not just joint ventures, faces challenges," Blissett admitted. "For consumers, product, design, technology, and price are the focal points, rather than the type of company."

According to Blissett, compared to other markets, Chinese consumers generally have a higher acceptance of new technologies and are eager to embrace electric vehicles and intelligent driving. While plug-in hybrid models have practical significance in the short to medium term and are suitable options for price-sensitive consumers in densely populated urban commuting scenarios, with policy support driving sales, General Motors believes that pure electric is the future direction of development.

"The future of pure electric is unstoppable, and General Motors will continue to increase its investment in the electric vehicle and autonomous driving fields. All major brands will introduce powerful lineups of pure electric products," Blissett stated. "General Motors adheres to the concept of 'electricity for all' in product planning, targeting a wide range of market segments and price ranges."

Among them, Cadillac, as the pioneer of General Motors' electrification transformation, will mainly focus on the luxury car market. Buick's pure electric products will target the mainstream mass market, and Chevrolet will also soon launch brand-new pure electric vehicle products.

Blissett revealed, "SAIC-GM introduced the Buick ELECTRA E5 and E4 based on the Ultium platform in the second quarter, securing a place in the mainstream market. The E5 received very positive feedback, and the E4 will be delivered soon. Wuling BINGO and Baojun Yue, as new electric vehicle models based on the SAIC-GM Wuling GSEV platform, have also achieved strong market performance. Wuling BINGO has achieved monthly sales of over 10,000 in the past two months."

To break the current homogeneity of pure electric vehicles, "General Motors continues to increase investment in design talent and facilities to launch personalized pure electric vehicle products. At the same time, we consider technology as another key focus for differentiation," Blissett analyzed. "The combination of design and technology is the key to breaking product homogeneity."

While accelerating the launch of pure electric vehicle products, "we also aim to provide gasoline vehicle consumers with an equally intelligent user experience through our 'hybrid intelligence' approach," Blissett stated. "The new Cadillac CT6, XT4, and GT4 models, as well as the updated Buick Regal launched in the second quarter, are all beneficiaries of 'technology shared' and feature advanced technologies, including Super Cruise and VCS intelligent cockpits."

In addition, in the imported vehicle business, "since the launch of the Doronge platform in September last year, we have attracted young talent from various fields, including digital marketing and software," Blissett confidently stated. "We hope to drive future growth with a young team and a collaborative approach."
