According to media reports, Tesla, the electric car manufacturer, has started its first-ever advertising campaign by placing some Google ads, following Elon Musk's announcement of Tesla's intention to explore advertising.

Last month, Musk announced a change in Tesla's long-standing strategy of not spending money on advertising. Previously, Tesla emphasized using funds to improve its products and relied on customer advocacy for promotion.
Tesla investors have often suggested to Musk that advertising certain features and advantages of Tesla cars could be worth trying. At Tesla's annual shareholder meeting, Musk agreed to this request for the first time. He stated that Tesla would "try running some ads" and see how they perform.
It is reported that Tesla has indeed begun advertising. Some Google users have noticed Tesla ads appearing in search results, and Tesla's name can also be seen through Google's transparency in advertising program.

Currently, these Tesla ads seem to be primarily targeted at the UK market, although some users in the US have also seen advertisements for Tesla's solar products. Moreover, Tesla seems to favor advertising through search engines rather than traditional banner ads.
With more and more electric vehicles entering the market, competition is expected to intensify, and automakers are reallocating part of their advertising budget from fossil fuel-powered cars to electric vehicles. Against this backdrop of increased competition, Tesla's decision to venture into advertising is not surprising.
