According to media reports, Intel is set to make major adjustments to its automotive architecture division, initiating layoffs within the department. This move is a key component of the company's broader restructuring strategy.

The news was first reported by The Oregonian/Oregon Live, which cited an internal memo distributed to employees on the morning of June 24. The memo revealed that Intel will gradually scale down its automotive business. Intel later confirmed the plan to tech media outlet TechCrunch, stating that internal communication about the decision took place on June 24.
Intel spokesperson Cory Pforzheimer stated: "As we've previously mentioned, we are refocusing on our core client and data center businesses to strengthen our product offerings and better meet customer needs. As part of this effort, we have made the decision to gradually wind down the automotive business within our Client Computing Group. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for our customers." He also noted that the company would not disclose the number of affected employees by region or business unit.
Although Intel's automotive division has not been a major revenue driver, it has played an active role in autonomous driving technology and has invested significantly in emerging areas such as software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
