Hyundai To Launch Inster Small Electric Car in Europe

According to media reports, Hyundai will release a small pure electric SUV named Inster in Europe. The new model is set to hit the market in the fourth quarter of this year with a starting price of 25,000 euros.

Andrea-Christoph Hoffmann, Hyundai Motor Europe's Product and Marketing Director, recently stated, "It is an A-segment car, but it has the space of a B-segment car."

Inster is the pure electric version of the Casper small SUV with an internal combustion engine, which Hyundai launched in the Korean market in 2021. In a statement, Hyundai said the new model targets a range of 355 kilometers (WLTP cycle). Hyundai claims the new model "will set new standards in range, technology, and safety performance."

Inster will make its global debut this month at the Busan International Mobility Show. Hyundai stated that the car's name is partly derived from the words "intimate" and "innovative."

Competitors for the Inster include the Citroën e-C3 small electric car and the Dacia Spring, both of which have starting prices below 25,000 euros and belong to the economy segment of the small electric car market. Additionally, larger competitors for the Inster include the MG ZS EV, which will be launched early next year.

Inster's main competitor is likely to be the upcoming Skoda Epiq, which will be launched next year and will use Volkswagen Group's new entry-level MEB platform. Skoda has set the starting price for the Epiq at 25,000 euros, with a target range of about 400 kilometers (248 miles).
