Hyundai will recall 98,878 vehicles, including some IONIQ and Kona models, while Kia will recall 48,232 vehicles, including some EV6 models.

NHTSA stated that the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) in the vehicles may be damaged, causing it to stop charging the 12-volt battery, resulting in loss of propulsion and increased crash risks.

Kia noted that affected vehicles may emit sound warnings and exhibit one or more of the following conditions: warning lights for electric vehicle systems, main warning lights, charging system warning lights, stop vehicle and check power warning lights, power loss warnings (turtle symbol), and/or reduced power.

Dealerships will inspect and replace the ICCU and its fuses as needed. Additionally, dealerships will update the ICCU software.
