According to media reports, Ford announced on February 23 that it has halted all deliveries of the 2024 F-150 Lightning and is conducting a quality check for an unspecified issue.

Ford stated that it ceased deliveries since February 9 this year and has not disclosed when deliveries will resume, with its spokesperson declining to provide information about the quality issue under inspection.

Last month, Ford indicated that it would reduce production of the F-150 Lightning due to decreased demand for electric vehicles in the market.

On February 23, Ford stated that production of the F-150 Lightning is ongoing. In January this year, the company announced plans to cut production at its Michigan Rouge Electric Vehicle Center to one shift starting April 1. Last October, Ford temporarily cut one of three shifts at its electric vehicle plant.

In December last year, Ford informed suppliers that it planned to produce around 1,600 F-150 Lightning electric pickups per week starting January this year, about half of the previously planned 3,200 units.

In 2023, Ford sold 24,165 units of the F-150 Lightning in the United States, marking a 55% increase compared to the previous year. The total sales of the F-150 series in the US last year were approximately 750,000 units.

Ford also announced that it had begun delivering the first batch of the 2024 model year F-150 gasoline pickups to dealers last week. The company stated, "As we complete pre-launch quality builds to ensure these new F-150s meet our standards, we expect to ramp up deliveries over the next several weeks."

Previously, reports indicated that hundreds of 2024 gasoline-powered F-150 pickups have been sitting in warehouses in southern Michigan since production began in December last year.
