According to media reports, Fisker has requested the bankruptcy judge overseeing its Chapter 11 proceedings to approve the sale of over 3,000 Ocean crossover electric vehicles from its inventory to a car rental company for approximately $14,000 each.
According to the documents Fisker submitted to the court on July 2, upon approval by the judge, Fisker will be able to sell 3,321 electric vehicles to the New York-based American Leasing Company for $46.25 million.

Previously, Fisker encountered logistical issues while selling the Ocean crossover electric vehicles and turned to a dealership partner model after burning through a large amount of funds earlier this year. Subsequently, Fisker filed for bankruptcy protection last month.
Some models of the Ocean were originally priced at around $70,000. As Fisker neared bankruptcy, the company lowered the price of its cheapest model to around $25,000 to raise funds to repay its debts.
On May 30, two weeks before Fisker filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the American Leasing Company agreed to purchase 2,100 Ocean electric vehicles and a month later increased this order to include all 3,321 Ocean vehicles available for sale.
The American Leasing Company provides long-term leases or short-term rentals to rideshare drivers in New York City and its surrounding areas. Last year, New York City mandated that by 2030, its rideshare fleet must transition to zero-emission vehicles or accessible vehicles that can accommodate wheelchairs.
