Finnish Driver Fined $129,400 For Speeding

Recently, we came across an unusual news story where a Finnish tycoon named Anders Wiklof was fined $129,400 for speeding. Yes, you read it correctly. This fine is equivalent to approximately 920,000 Chinese Yuan, and his driver's license was also temporarily suspended for 10 days. Interestingly, in Finland, speeding fines are income-based, and this tycoon happens to be among the elite class of Finnish society, so the magnitude of the fine is understandable.

At the time, Wiklof was driving at a speed of 82 km/h on a road with a speed limit of 50 km/h. During an interview with a newspaper, he mentioned that the speed limit had been reduced from 70 km/h to 50 km/h, and he was slowing down at that moment. "I truly regret this, and I hope that this fine will be used for the country's healthcare and welfare," he stated.

For reference, Wiklof owns a holding company involved in over 20 sectors, including construction, logistics, trade, tourism, and helicopter services, with a revenue of $264 million in 2020.
