On February 4th, it was officially announced by VFIDI Battery that their joint venture with FAW Group, FAW-VFIDI New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., has commenced production on February 2nd after two years of development.

According to reports, VFIDI Battery and FAW Group's joint venture for power battery projects officially started construction on February 26, 2022, in Changchun, Jilin Province, with a total investment of CNY 13.5 billion, covering an area of 800,000 square meters. As per the joint venture plan, the focus will be on the development of power batteries and battery systems, energy storage batteries and energy storage systems. The company aims to establish a comprehensive battery cycle ecosystem, including production, sales, battery recycling, cascaded utilization, and regeneration.

In terms of power battery capacity, the plan involves three phases with a total planned capacity of 45GWh, constructing 15GWh in each phase. The project utilizes BYD's cutting-edge blade battery technology, combined with a design featuring high integration without modules, effectively addressing technical challenges such as high safety, high endurance, and long lifespan. Upon full operation, the production will be capable of supplying blade batteries for nearly 600,000 vehicles.
FAW officials revealed that the initial batch of produced batteries will be used in the upcoming Hongqi's new model of pure electric vehicles.
