Chery will launch its new high-end brand, "Zongheng," on January 22. Vehicles under this brand will feature advanced off-road technology and a revolutionary luxury driving experience, potentially positioning themselves as competitors to Land Rover's Defender. It is reported that the production versions of the previously announced Shanhai T5 and Shanhai T7 concept cars could belong to this series. Chery has already registered the trademarks for Zongheng G700 and Zongheng G900.

According to previous spy photos from road tests, the Shanhai T5 has a rugged off-road SUV stance, with its squared-off headlights giving it a retro feel. The rear of the vehicle features an external spare tire, emphasizing its off-road identity.

It is said that the Shanhai T5 may adopt a body-on-frame design with three locking differentials. Powering the vehicle will be the Kunpeng Super Hybrid C-DM system, with a thermal efficiency of over 45%. The new model is expected to be equipped with a two-speed DHT, with a total power output of 560kW, peak torque of 795Nm, and a combined range of up to 1400km.
