Recently, Guoxuan High-Tech officially announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hefei Guoxuan High-Tech Power Energy Co., Ltd., signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. on the afternoon of January 7. The two parties will engage in comprehensive cooperation in the fields of passenger cars and commercial vehicles, jointly exploring the new energy vehicle market.
According to the agreement, the collaboration will encompass various projects under Chery Automobile, including passenger cars, buses, logistics vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks. Hefei Guoxuan will serve as a major supplier, actively participating in project development and supply. Chery Automobile will actively incorporate Guoxuan's third-generation battery cell technology and strengthen cooperation in battery platform standardization, cell consistency and safety, and battery big data. In new business areas such as energy storage and electric ships, the two parties will jointly explore innovative business models. Leveraging their respective competitive advantages in international markets, they will jointly expand overseas new energy markets. The collaboration will also focus on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives and low-carbon emissions, enhancing brand reputation and market visibility.
In fact, this is not the first cooperation between the two parties. As early as 2012, Guoxuan High-Tech had partnered with Chery Automobile. In 2018, Guoxuan Battery provided batteries in bulk for Chery's EQ1, and the following year, they officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement, achieving bulk deliveries of battery packs for Chery EQ1.
By 2020, Guoxuan Battery had supplied batteries for over 20,000 Chery vehicles, and in 2021, the two parties reached a designated cooperation for the Jiangtun project, supplying batteries in bulk for popular models like Chery QQ Ice Cream. In 2022, their collaboration deepened, with an annual installation volume exceeding 130,000 vehicles, representing a growth of over 220% compared to the previous year.
As Chery officially commits to the comprehensive electrification of its four major passenger car brands-Chery, Exeed, Jetour, and iCAR-in 2023, introducing a series of new energy vehicles, the collaboration is accelerating the deployment of electrification.
