BYD Recalls Some Seagull Models Due To Reverse Camera Display Issue

BYD Auto Co., Ltd. recently filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the "Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls" and its implementation measures. Starting from May 20, 2024, they are recalling a total of 16,666 Seagull electric vehicles manufactured between April 7, 2023, and May 31, 2023.

Part of the vehicles within this recall scope may experience issues with the camera driver software in the multimedia display assembly, resulting in the reverse camera image not displaying properly. This can impact the driver's visibility while reversing, increasing the risk of collisions and posing a safety hazard.

According to data from Auto Quality Network, prior to BYD initiating the recall, there were four complaints about Seagull reverse camera image malfunctions, which have since been addressed by the manufacturer. BYD Auto Co., Ltd. will use Over-the-Air (OTA) technology to remotely upgrade the software free of charge for vehicles within the recall scope, ensuring proper functioning of the reverse camera display. For vehicles that cannot be recalled through OTA technology, BYD Auto Co., Ltd. will proactively contact affected users to upgrade the software at no cost, eliminating the safety risks.
