According to official information, BASF's Cellasto business focuses on noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) solutions. In response to the growing demands of the Chinese automotive market-particularly the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment-the expansion project has been approved by BASF's headquarters in Germany. Approximately RMB 500 million (about USD 70 million) will be invested in the project, which aims to provide NVH-integrated shock absorber solutions tailored for China's NEV market. The new facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2027.

The expansion will include state-of-the-art mold production lines and is expected to boost the plant's total production capacity by nearly 70%. By combining a new plant, advanced technologies, and a focus on new energy, the project is set to further enhance BASF's competitiveness in the automotive sector.

Commenting on the expansion, Dr. Jeffrey Lou, President and Chairman of BASF Greater China, stated, "Since entering the Chinese market 140 years ago, BASF has made significant investments in the region. Today's expansion is yet another strong demonstration of our commitment to being close to local markets and customers. As a leading chemical supplier to the automotive industry, BASF will continue to leverage our local production network, robust innovation capabilities, and deep market expertise to accelerate the growth of our automotive business in China."
