Recently, the inauguration ceremony for the production of the Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd. (CATL) Guizhou New Energy Power and Energy Storage Battery Manufacturing Base took place in the Gui'an New Area, marking the official commencement of the base's Phase I production. It's understood that CATL's Guizhou base began construction in 2022. Designed to the high standards of the "Lighthouse + Zero Carbon Factory" model, the first phase has received an investment of approximately 7 billion yuan, with an annual designed production capacity of 30GWh for power and energy storage batteries.
At present, with the formal launch of the project's Phase I, once it reaches full-scale production, an industrial ecosystem will gradually form, promoting Gui'an New Area's development as a production base for new energy vehicles, batteries, and related materials. Zhou Guoli, the operational head of CATL Guizhou, stated: "CATL's Guizhou base utilizes the most advanced production lines, achieving a 95% automation rate. Within the production cycle, from raw material input to final product output, a battery cell can be produced every second and a battery pack can be produced in 2.5 minutes. After the commencement of the first phase, it can achieve a production value of 15 billion yuan, providing 3,000 local job opportunities."
