On August 30, Adient announced the official opening of its new sled testing laboratory at the China Technical Center, where the first crash test was successfully conducted.
As a crucial part of the expansion and upgrade of Adient's China Technical Center, the new laboratory features the latest technology and equipment. The facility is expected to further enhance the testing and verification capabilities of the technical center, improving research and development efficiency.

The new sled testing laboratory can simulate various emergency braking and collision scenarios, testing the safety performance of seats and providing scientific support for automotive seat safety design. Additionally, the lab can offer sled testing for body-in-white structures to clients.
According to Adient, by continuously optimizing core facilities and advancing technological innovation, Adient China will maintain close collaboration with global technical centers, focusing on incubating breakthrough technologies, innovating automotive seat solutions, and driving industry transformation.
The expansion and upgrade of the Adient China Technical Center is still in full swing. This phase includes the optimization and construction of several key facilities, with the six-axis vibration laboratory expected to be completed and operational soon.
According to Adient's second-quarter financial results, the company's net sales for the quarter were $3.75 billion, compared to $3.912 billion in the same period last year. Based on the second-quarter performance, Adient expressed optimism that its collaborations with Chinese automakers may bring future growth opportunities. The company is shifting its long-term strategic focus towards Asia, particularly China, where it has already achieved margin improvements. Thanks to a 6% increase in sales in the Chinese market, Adient's sales in Asia rose by about 1% year-over-year.
