The autonomous driving level refers to vehicles equipped with automatic or intelligent driving assistance features. Based on the definitions in the grading standards, vehicles are matched to the appropriate level of driving assistance.
Currently, the globally accepted classification method comes from SAE International (Society of Automotive Engineers). According to their standards, autonomous driving is categorized into six levels, from L0 to L5. L0 represents traditional human driving without any assistance, while levels L1 to L5 are further sub-divided based on the maturity and capabilities of the autonomous features.
