What is the appropriate size for a garage?

Garages for large vehicles should be around 7 to 10 meters in length, with a width of no less than 4 meters and a height between 4 to 6 meters. For small vehicles, garages should be around 5 to 7 meters in length, with a width of no less than 3 meters and a height between 3 to 5 meters. These sizes are for single-car garages and are for reference only. If you have electric vehicles, motorcycles, or other types of vehicles, you may need to expand the garage size accordingly.

When building a garage, you should also consider rainwater issues. The height difference between the inside and outside of the garage should be kept between 30cm to 50cm so that even in heavy rain, the garage won't be flooded. The width of the garage door should not be less than 3 meters to facilitate the entry and exit of vehicles. The garage door should also be built near the road and facing the road.

It is worth mentioning that if you live in a community, building a private garage may violate the interests of other owners. You can negotiate or sue in court to request demolition. Therefore, if you want to build a private garage in a community, you should carefully consider it.

If you want to build a garage on your own land, you must ensure that it does not encroach on public space and that the road is unobstructed on public space. If there are obstacles blocking the road, they should be removed or cleared in a timely manner.
