Does an 8AT last longer than a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission?

With the continuous development of automotive technology, people's choice of transmission is becoming more and more important. There are 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmissions and 8AT transmissions that have attracted much attention in the market, so which of the two transmissions has a longer life?

Let's first take a look at the 8AT gearbox, which has a long history of research and development and a large number of cars equipped with this product.

It is designed with a torque converter, which makes the gear changes more smooth and comfortable, without obvious frustration. Especially on urban roads with frequent start-stops and low-speed driving, the 8AT gearbox performs with ease and adaptability.

However, due to the addition of a torque converter, the 8AT gearbox has slightly higher fuel consumption. Nevertheless, in practical use, the gap between its fuel-saving performance and the 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is not significant.

Next, we take a look at the 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The structure of this gearbox is similar to that of a combination of two manual gearboxes, with two clutches controlling odd and even gears separately, allowing for more efficient shifting.

In daily driving, the 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is relatively fuel-efficient, with fast shift speed and high transmission efficiency. However, since the dual clutch is equipped with both wet and dry clutches, there are some problems that need to be paid attention to when using it.

If a dry clutch is used, the power transmission range is limited and cannot carry high torque output. The use of a wet clutch can lead to unstable transmission operation on urban roads with frequent start-stops and low-speed driving.
