Can a Tire with a Bulge Be Repaired?

A tire with a bulge cannot be repaired; it must be replaced. A bulge in the tire indicates that the tire's internal ply has been damaged. Even if the exterior of the tire can be repaired, the ply cannot be restored. Over time, the tire may develop another bulge or even burst, posing a safety risk. Therefore, a bulged tire must be replaced promptly.

Causes of Tire Bulging:

1:Driving over uneven surfaces without reducing speed: If you drive over potholes or rough terrain at high speeds, the force is concentrated on a single point, causing the tire to be severely compressed, which may result in a bulge.

2:Impact damage to the tire ply: When the tire suffers an impact, the internal ply can be damaged, leading to uneven pressure distribution inside the tire. The area under higher stress will bulge out, forming a bulge.

Tire Maintenance Tips:

1:Check tire pressure: Inspect tire pressure once a month. The pressure difference between the tires on the left and right sides should not exceed 5 kPa.

2:Rotate tires: Rotate the tires every 5,000 to 10,000 kilometers to ensure even wear between the front and rear tires, extending their lifespan.

3:Replace tires after about 5 years: Generally, tires experience significant wear after about 5 years and should be replaced with new ones.

4:Adjust driving speed based on road conditions: When encountering poor road conditions, adjust your speed accordingly. Avoid driving at high speeds over rough terrain, as this could cause the tire to bulge.

5:Perform wheel balancing: If you notice the steering wheel shaking or the vehicle swaying while driving, have the wheel balance checked to ensure smooth driving.

Tire bulges are often caused by improper use. Severe bulging can lead to tire rupture, so it's recommended that vehicle owners visit a 4S dealership for inspection. If a bulge is found, the tire should be replaced as soon as possible.
