Recently, Bai Jian, the Vice President of NIO, posted on domestic social media saying, "In the field of intelligent hardware, starting from NT1, our domain controller circuits and structures have been designed by us and manufactured by contracted factories. Even if produced by contractors, the testing fixtures and software development are all developed in-house and then handed over to the manufacturing plants. In the next one to two years, we will also independently develop and mass-produce key chips, led by the AD chip!"
The AD chip, which converts analog signals into digital signals, is widely used in vehicles. For instance, the data reading process of various sensors requires the application of this type of chip. Successful in-house development would represent a milestone achievement for NIO. NIO asserts that they will continue to adhere to a full-stack independent technology strategy. As of the first quarter of 2023, NIO has applied for, published, and been granted over 6,000 patents globally.
In addition, the brand-new NIO EC6 is expected to be launched at the Chengdu Auto Show in late August. This car is positioned as a medium-sized pure electric coupe SUV.
