Tesla Achieves First 10 Million Milestone

According to media reports, on July 31, Tesla announced on multiple social media platforms that its 10 millionth electric drive unit officially rolled off the production line at the Shanghai Gigafactory.

Subsequently, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted on X, saying, "Congratulations to the Tesla electric drive team!"

The electric drive system, which includes the motor, gearbox, and motor controller, converts electrical energy into kinetic energy and is one of the core technologies of electric vehicles. It is reported that every part of the electric drive system is designed and manufactured by Tesla from scratch.

Less than two months ago, Tesla announced the rollout of its 5 millionth electric drive unit at the Nevada factory. Tesla stated that from 1 to 10 million, it has accelerated the world's transition to sustainable energy through concrete actions.

Tesla executives revealed, "Once, it was a huge challenge for us to produce 100 electric drive units a day, and now we have surpassed the 10 million milestone." Tesla noted that globally, one electric drive unit rolls off the production line every five seconds.

Additionally, Tesla has been committed to reducing the cost of electric drive systems, and the cost of today's electric drive units is now less than half of that of the first-generation Model S electric drive system.

In the second quarter, Tesla delivered a total of 443,956 vehicles, which means that since the initial delivery of the first-generation Roadster to customers in early 2008, the company has delivered more than 6 million vehicles.

Currently, most of Tesla's vehicle deliveries come from the Model 3 sedan and the Model Y crossover, both of which offer single-motor or dual-motor versions. Considering this, Tesla's latest electric drive system milestone may help the company further expand its global delivery volume.
