On February 1st, the GAC AION Thailand plant project officially commenced at the Rayong Industrial Park in Rayong Province, Thailand. Serving as GAC AION's first overseas production base, the total investment in the Thai plant project amounts to 2.3 billion Thai Baht, with a designed annual production capacity of 50,000 units. The construction is planned in two phases, with the first phase expected to be completed by July of this year.
The AION Thailand plant follows the principles of low investment, rapid output, and phased development. The initial production model is set to be the AION Y Plus right-hand drive version, which is currently popular in the Thai market. In the future, the Thailand plant will undertake the responsibility of introducing more localized models.
Currently, GAC AION is expeditiously advancing its global strategy. Thailand, as the first and core market in this global strategy, will see GAC AION deeply rooted, continuously radiating into the ASEAN market, and gradually achieving localized production, sales, and services. AION Thailand Company aims to successfully complete the construction and localized operations of the Thai plant, utilizing this opportunity to build a professional international talent pool, solidify the overseas market production-supply-sales system, boost the overseas brand influence, enhance internationalization, and contribute new momentum to GAC AION's goal of achieving one million units in production and sales by 2025.
