On June 9th, during the main forum of the 2023 World Power Battery Conference, the city of Yibin was awarded the title of "China's Power Battery Capital" by the China Light Industry Federation and the China Battery Industry Association. Yibin has become the first city in the country to be designated as the "China's Power Battery Capital."
It is reported that the title of "China's Power Battery Capital - Yibin" is valid for a period of 4 years. The China Light Industry Federation expressed hope that Yibin would continue to strengthen the attraction and cultivation of the entire power battery industry chain, enhance the supporting capabilities of the industry chain, and make greater contributions to regional economic development and the development of China's battery industry.
Liao Wenbin, Deputy Secretary of the Yibin Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, stated in his keynote speech during the conference that Yibin is vigorously promoting the extension, supplementation, and strengthening of the power battery industry chain. The planned total capacity is 305 GWh, with 150 GWh of capacity already in operation and 30 GWh under construction. In 2022, Yibin produced and sold 72 GWh of power batteries, accounting for over 80% of the province's production and over 15.5% nationwide. It is expected that the entire industry chain will achieve an output value exceeding 120 billion yuan this year, laying a solid foundation for building a trillion-level power battery industry cluster in Sichuan Province. "At the same time, under the driving force of (Sichuan CATL), we have already gathered more than 110 projects in the upstream and downstream industry chain, with a total investment exceeding 270 billion yuan, and have established an ecological circle of the power battery and green closed-loop industry chain. It has become one of the regions with the most complete industry chain and strongest supporting capabilities in the country."
"We expect the city's power battery output value to exceed 120 billion yuan this year!" said a senior official of the Yibin Municipal Government. Yibin will seize the opportunity of hosting the World Power Battery Conference for two consecutive years, further highlighting leadership, technological empowerment, and low-carbon orientation, accelerating the construction of the Power Battery Capital, and creating a world-class power battery industry cluster.
