Safety Hazard Alert! Yueda Kia Recalls Over 180,000 Domestic And Imported Vehicles

Recently, Jiangsu Yueda Kia Motors Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with China's State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the Regulations on the Administration of Defective Automobile Product Recalls and its implementation measures. The company has decided to recall the following vehicles starting from February 10, 2025:

2

1. Recall of Domestic Vehicles

211,797 units of domestically produced Sportage vehicles manufactured between July 8, 2010, and August 20, 2014.

181,401 units of domestically produced K5 vehicles manufactured between January 5, 2011, and September 29, 2015.

Some vehicles within this recall range may experience a short circuit inside the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) of the braking system, which, in extreme cases, could lead to an engine compartment fire, posing a safety hazard.

Jiangsu Yueda Kia Motors Co., Ltd. will replace the fuse and cover inside the junction box free of charge for the recalled vehicles to eliminate the safety risk. If a short circuit occurs inside the HECU after the fix, causing the fuse to blow again, the company will replace the HECU free of charge.

2. Recall of Imported Kia EV5 Vehicles

1,653 units of imported Kia EV5 electric vehicles manufactured between October 25, 2023, and September 12, 2024.

These vehicles have a control program issue with the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system, which may cause the vehicle to fail to stop immediately in rare cases when the Remote Smart Parking Assist function is disengaged, posing a safety hazard.

Jiangsu Yueda Kia Motors Co., Ltd. will upgrade the IEB control program free of charge to eliminate the safety risk.

3. Recall of Imported Kia EV6 Vehicles

252 units of imported Kia EV6 electric vehicles manufactured between June 12, 2023, and January 24, 2024.

Due to a software issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), internal components may become damaged, preventing the 12V battery from charging. This could result in warning lights turning on, gradual speed reduction, and eventual loss of power, creating a safety hazard.

Jiangsu Yueda Kia Motors Co., Ltd. will inspect and update the ICCU software free of charge. If the vehicle has related fault codes, the company will also replace the ICCU and fuse free of charge to eliminate the safety risk.

This recall is an extension of the recall initially announced on July 12, 2024, regarding certain imported Kia EV6 vehicles.
