Ministry Of Commerce: China Always Opens Its Doors To Global Automakers

The Ministry of Commerce held its routine press conference on the 29th. During the session, a reporter asked: According to reports, the American Manufacturing Alliance urged the US government to take measures to prevent the import of low-priced Chinese cars from Mexico, claiming that this could threaten the survival of American car companies. What is the response of the Ministry of Commerce to this?

"First of all, I want to point out that Chinese cars are widely welcomed globally, not because of low-price dumping, but due to the technological innovation and excellent quality formed in fierce market competition," said He Yadong.

He Yadong pointed out that in recent years, the US has set up numerous barriers, including imposing tariffs, restricting participation in government procurement, and adopting discriminatory subsidy policies, severely hindering Chinese cars from entering the US market. In stark contrast, China has always opened its doors to global automotive companies. American car companies fully enjoy the benefits of the Chinese market. In fact, sales of American-brand cars in China far exceed the sales of Chinese-brand cars in the US.

He expressed that the US's pursuit of trade protectionism, politicization of economic and trade issues, and the building of higher trade barriers hinder fair competition and, in the long run, will also impede the development of the American automotive industry itself. He hopes that the US will respect the laws of the market economy and the principle of fair competition, correct non-market policies and practices, and create conditions for fair competition and long-term development of the automotive industry.
