According to media reports, Ford Motor Company initiated four separate recalls in a single day, affecting a total of 394,466 vehicles.
Of the four recalls, the largest involves 295,449 diesel-powered Super Duty trucks, due to potential fuel pump failures. The issue arises when biodiesel causes deposits to accumulate on the drive roller components of the high-pressure fuel pump, which over time can lead to pump failure.
Ford stated that the affected vehicles include 2020 to 2022 models of the F250, F350, F450, F550, and F600 trucks, as well as the 2021 to 2022 F650 and F750 trucks. The remedy involves updating the powertrain control module software, and the repair will be performed free of charge at dealerships.
The remaining three recalls are smaller in scale but still significant. First, Ford is recalling 47,818 units of the 2024 to 2025 Lincoln Nautilus due to a potential issue with the automatic window reversal system. The system may fail to stop the window's movement when an obstacle is detected. The fix involves recalibrating the door modules on both the driver's and passenger's sides, and the repair will also be free of charge.
Additionally, Ford will recall 30,715 vehicles, including the 2019 Ford Flex, Fiesta, and Lincoln MKZ, because of faulty backup cameras. These cameras may fail to display a proper rearview image, showing a black screen or distorted visuals instead. Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have yet to finalize a solution, but owners will be notified once a remedy is determined.
Finally, Ford is recalling 20,484 units of the 2020 to 2024 Ford Escape and the 2021 to 2024 Lincoln Corsair due to a potential defect in the high-voltage battery pack. This issue could lead to internal short circuits, potentially causing battery failure. The solution involves updating the battery energy control module software, and in some cases, the entire battery pack may need to be replaced. All repairs will be provided free of charge.
