We have learned from the media that Ford has announced the end of production for the Fiesta model to make room for the all-new electric SUV, the Explorer EV. According to media reports, the final Fiesta model will be assembled and rolled off the production line at Ford's factory in Cologne, Germany, on July 7th. Ford plans to launch nine electric vehicle models in Europe by 2024, including the PUMA electric model and two electric commercial vehicles.

Martin Sandor, Ford's General Manager for Europe, previously stated in an interview, "We have decided to produce our first high-volume electric vehicle in Cologne. When we need to create space, we need to transform the current Fiesta factory into a battery production facility. That's why we had to make the decision to discontinue the production of the Fiesta."

The Cologne Electric Vehicle Center, Ford's first carbon-neutral factory, is expected to start production of the Ford Explorer EV this year. The new vehicle is an electric SUV based on Volkswagen's MEB electric vehicle platform and will also be Ford's first mass-produced all-electric passenger car produced in Europe.

Regarding powertrain details, Ford has not yet revealed the specifics of the power system. The Explorer EV is expected to offer both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, with the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes in fast charging mode.
